Today is National Puppy Day, a day set aside to set aside to honor the pure joy of puppies but also a day to take action against the mistreatments of these innocent creatures. Whether from puppy mills, backyard breeding or the carelessness of owners, there are many puppies today that suffer at the hands of people.
National Puppy Day was founded in 2006 by pet lifestyle expert, animal behaviorist and author, Colleen Paige. Paige also started the Animal Miracle Foundation & Network which is a non-profit organization that “offers financial assistance and educational programs ranging from pet cancer to fire safety and travel safety for kids and pets alike.”
So whether you are thankful for the puppy in your life, or maybe looking for one of your own, today is a perfect day to celebrate the joy of puppies everywhere and help those who need it.
If you would like to aid in the health and well-being of puppies everywhere, there are specific actions you can do right now.
